Eddie Guerrero is frequently listed as one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. Eddie was the youngest son of Gory Guerrero, a legendary wrestler, and promoter whose sons all followed him into the business of professional wrestling. Gory was a wrestling pioneer and innovator, responsible for several shows in the family's hometown of El Paso and for creating several unique moves including the Camel Clutch and the Gory Special.
Eddie Guerrero would wrestle in WCW before crossing to WWE alongside Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Chris Benoit. The group arrived in WWE as the Radicalz, but it would still take some time before Guerrero became a top star in the promotion. Unfortunately, Guerrero's life was tragically cut short after he passed away from acute heart failure in 2005 at the age of 38.
10 Chavo is his Nephew, not his Cousin/Brother

While Eddie Guerrero was significantly younger than his brothers, he still came through professional wrestling alongside another Guerrero that was close to him in age. At a young age, Eddie Guerrero would wrestle Chavo Guerrero during the intermission of shows booked and promoted by his father Gory Guerrero. Since Eddie was only three years older than Chavo, many would assume that they were brothers or cousins.
However, the truth is that Chavo was the son of Eddie's eldest brother Chavo Guerrero Sr., who would wrestle in WWE as Chavo Classic. Chavo Sr. was 18 years older than his younger brother, meaning that he would have been 21 years old when he fathered Chavo Guerrero Jr.
9 Was Involved In 2 Car Accidents

Eddie Guerrero's wrestling career almost ended before he had a chance to make it big. On New Year's Eve 1998, Guerrero was involved in a car accident that crushed his ankle. Doctors believed that Guerrero was lucky to be alive after the accident and reportedly told the wrestler that it was unlikely that he would ever be able to wrestle again. While Guerrero would prove his doctors wrong, the accident would cause Guerrero several problems later in his life.
Guerrero would have a second car accident in 2001 when he was signed for WWE after he fell asleep while driving. Thankfully, the second accident was not as serious as the first and he only suffered minor injuries.
8 Became Addicted to Drugs and Pain Killers

After Guerrero's first accident, there was a lot of fear that he wouldn't be able to wrestle again. During this time, Guerrero would become addicted to painkillers and began drinking as a way to deal with his depression. Given the rough nature of the business, many wrestlers often develop addictions to painkillers, due to the constant stress their bodies are put under from bumping around on a ring for a living.
While Guerrero would eventually clean up his act, his addiction issues cost him his job with WWE in his first stint with the company. Thankfully he was able to clean himself up and return to WWE and he soon became the hottest star in the company.
7 Fired After Arrest for DUI

As previously stated, Guerrero's issues with drugs and alcohol would resort in Guerrero getting fired from WWE in 2001. At that time, Guerrero had been sent to rehab by WWE due to his addiction to painkillers and was written off with an injury angle. While Guerrero was away from WWE, he was stopped and arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
Three days after his arrest, Guerrero was released from his contract with the WWE. As a result of the rehab and then his release, Guerrero missed the entire Invasion storyline where WWE had been invaded by wrestlers from WCW and ECW.
6 Became Religious

The biggest way that Guerrero found salvation from his issues with drugs and alcohol was reportedly finding religion. During Guerrero's time away from WWE, he would become a born-again Christian and when he returned to WWE he did so as a more religious person.
It was during this time that Guerrero would become friends with another former drug addict turned born-again Christian, Shawn Michaels. Michaels and Guerrero would reportedly become friends and often prayed together backstage during events. Michaels spoke about their shared faith on the episode of Raw after Guerrero's passing, where the WWE paid tribute to Guerrero.
5 Has 2 Non-Wrestling Sisters

Most wrestling fans know about the legendary Guerrero wrestling family. Started by the patriarch, Gory Guerrero, who was followed into professional wrestling by his sons, Chavo, Hector, Mando, and Eddie. Gory's grandson Chavo Guerrero Jr would also go into professional wrestling. Even Gory's wife, Herlinda Lanes, was occasionally involved in the storylines of professional wrestling as her brothers were all professional wrestlers.
However, there were a few members of the family that were not involved in professional wrestling. Eddie Guerrero had two sisters, Maria and Linda Guerrero that did not follow their father into the family business of professional wrestling.
4 Had 2 Daughters with Vickie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero and Vickie Guerrero were married from 1990 until Eddie's death in 2005, aside from a brief period when they were separated in the early 2000s. Together, the couple had two daughters. Their eldest daughter, Shaul Guerrero, was born roughly six months after her parents got married and their second daughter, Sherilyn Guerrero, was born five years later. Shaul Guerrero would follow in her father's footsteps into professional wrestling, signing a developmental contract with WWE in 2010. Shaul would wrestle for WWE developmental programs Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT before leaving WWE in 2014.
Despite being Eddie's daughter, Shaul claimed that WWE wouldn't allow her to use the Guerrero name. In 2016, Guerrero married fellow wrestler Matt Rehwoldt who is best known for his time as Aiden English in WWE.
3 Briefly dated another woman

While many fans know Vickie Guerrero was Eddie's wife as Vickie participated in numerous storylines, including the personal feud between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. However, many fans don't know that Eddie and Vickie had a two-year separation in their marriage. During their separation, Eddie Guerrero dated another woman called Tara Mahoney. Not much information is available about Tara, but it's believed that the two dated for a short period in 2002.
Eddie would end up reconciling with Vickie Guerrero and the two stayed together until Eddie's passing in 2005.
2 Has a child from outside of wedlock

Not only did Guerrero date a different woman during his separation from Vickie, but Eddie Guerrero and Tara Mahoney also had a child together during their relationship. In 2002, Tara Mahoney gave birth to her daughter Kaylie Mahoney Guerrero. According to Kaylie's Instagram account, the daughter of Eddie Guerrero is an actress and SFX artist.
While most of the photos are of herself, she has posted a few photos alongside her father, as well as photos of herself alongside Vickie Guerrero and her two step-sisters. There is no word as to whether Kaylie has thought about following her father into professional wrestling.
1 Was Close with Art Barr

One of Eddie Guerrero's closest friends was American wrestler Art Barr. In 1992, the two first created a tag team called La Pareja Del Terror, or the Pair of Terror, in AAA. The two wrestlers would also become central to the Gringos Locos stable in the company alongside Konnan, Black Cat, Madonna's Boyfriend, Jake Roberts, and others.
Unfortunately, like Guerrero, Barr passed away at a young age. In November 1994, at the age of 28 Barr passed away in his sleep after suffering a heart attack related to a drug overdose. Barr's death shattered Guerrero, who was 27 years old at the time. Guerrero reportedly mourned his friends for several months, and even years after his death he continued to pay tribute by using Barr's Frog Splash as his finisher.
