After that, he retained the WBC Welterweight title for 3 more years, and lost it in April 2011.
Fighting Style
Berto’s fighting style can be described with only one word, EXPLOSIVE! His hand and feet quickness are some of the greatest in this era. Knowing the level of athleticism Andre possess, it’s no wonder why most of his fights are finishing with his opponents down on the floor. Andre has a great combination of hook and uppercut punches which makes him a deadly fighter.

Personal Trainer
Berto is one of the most explosive and probably the quickest boxers in his weight class. In order to have speed and power like Andre does, one boxer should always do both, skill training and weightlifting training. That was the case with Berto’’s improvement too. He was incorporating two different types of training and was exercising 6 and sometimes even 7 days a week.
Below, we bring you a workout program, very similar to the one Berto used for his preparation. Obviously, his workout routine keeps changing, but the following routine is definitely worth a shot.
Monday – Boxing Day
Tuesday – Weight Lifting (Chest + Arms)
Wednesday / Friday – Boxing Day
Thursday – Weightlifting (Back + Legs)
Saturday – Weightlifting (Power Lifts)
On Saturday, there is a power lift circuit that should be done for 5 consecutive rounds of Power Clean, Thruster and Jerk, each for 10 repetitions per round. The rest between rounds should be zero to no more than 30 seconds. The key is to perform each repetition in an explosive motion in order to work the fast twitch fiber muscles.
**5 ROUNDS
Sunday – REST DAY
There’s not much, we can speak about when it comes to Andre’s diet. He definitely eats clean and healthy food. Every professional boxer should be aware of the importance of eating food that is rich in protein. Also, avoiding processed and high-fat foods such as hamburgers, French fries, pizza and refined oils has a huge impact on both – decrease in performance and slowed muscle building process.
