On July 19th, 1982, a bright, lovable, and incredible person came into the world. Since that day he’s been doing some great things, giving people around the world smiles and hope.
Some people know him as Dean Forester from Gilmore Girls. A few may recognize him as Clay Miller from Friday the 13th. If you’re unfamiliar with these characters… you’re probably familiar with his most well-known role: Sam Winchester from Supernatural.
If you haven’t guessed it; we’re talking about the inspirational and fun-loving Jared Padalecki.
Even if you’re not a fan of the shows and movies he’s appeared in, there are lots of reasons to stan the thirty-four-year-old. We’d love to give you all of them, but the list would never end. So… we’ll shorten it down a little.
Here are six reasons to love Jared Padalecki.
1. His bright personality

The vine up above beautifully shows how odd and wonderful Jared’s personality is. When he attends and speaks at a panel during one of Supernatural‘s conventions, he never fails to light up the room. He can be serious when he needs to be, but otherwise he’s a tall bundle of warmness and goofiness.
2. His time on Gilmore Girls
Before Jared Padalecki made his way over to The CW’s Supernatural, he was on the teen drama Gilmore Girls. He played the character Dean Forester, who was Rory Gilmore’s first boyfriend. In the scene up above, the two briefly argue before Rory says “I love you, you idiot”. Aw. And what comes next? Well, we get some lip action. While Jared’s acting abilities have obviously improved since his time on Gilmore Girls, that doesn’t stop his appearance on the show from being awesome.
What’s even better? After all these years, there’s going to be a Gilmore Girls reunion! The date has yet to be announced, but new episodes of the show will be making their way onto Netflix. Jared is one of the many stars that will be returning. We’ll once again get to see him as Dean Forester.
Also, did we mention the greatness of his character’s name? Dean Forester. Sam Winchester’s brother is named Dean. What a coincidence.
3. His friendship with Jensen Ackles
Looking for a cute friendship? Try Jared’s relationship with Jensen. The two have been close ever since they began playing on-screen brothers in Supernatural. Even during the summer when their show is on filming hiatus, the duo spends a lot of time together. Not only do they have their panels and joint photo ops together at Supernatural‘s official conventions, but they actually live rather close to each other. Both Jared and Jensen reside in Austin, Texas with their families. How wonderful is that?

4. His portrayal of Sam Winchester

We couldn’t leave out Jared’s most well-known role. In the hit fantasy show Supernatural, Jared plays Sam Winchester, who hunts demons and other supernatural beings alongside his older brother, Dean Winchester. Not only is the show greatly entertaining, but the most intense scenes prove how well Jared can act.
Up above, we included one of his most heart-wrenching scenes; the ending of season seven’s finale. Even if you don’t watch the show, it’s still a video that can be appreciated.
Just a warning: it really is one of the most powerful moments Supernatural has ever seen. It may or may not make you a bit emotional.
5. His appearance in Brian Buckley Band’s “I Am Human” music video
Jared Padalecki may not be a professional musician, but that didn’t stop him from appearing in a music video. In 2011, he starred in Brian Buckley Band’s video for their song “I Am Human”. It’s all the right kinds of emotional. The song is powerful on its own, but with Jared, it comes out stronger. His wife, Genevieve Padalecki, also made an appearance in the video. It’s definitely worth a watch.
6. His “Always Keep Fighting” campaign
Shortly after Jared shared his own personal story with depression, he began the “Always Keep Fighting” campaign. To help encourage people suffering from mental illness to stay strong, he began selling shirts sporting the positive phrase on it. A lot of the profits went to organizations that specialize in assisting people dealing with these issues.
Since his first clothing campaign, the message has only grown. Not only is it “Always Keep Fighting”, but now it’s also “Love Yourself First” and most recently, “I Am Enough”. Not only is this beneficial to the charities selected to receive the profits, but the clothing items, as well as Jared’s posts and videos, help a lot of people. Within the Supernatural fandom, #AKF really does mean something.
Jared promotes and reminds people of the right things; to keep fighting, to love yourself first, and to remember that you are enough.

We couldn’t decide on just six, so here’s a bonus for you.
